Pork Leadership Institute

The Pork Leadership Institute is an annual Pork Checkoff program dedicated to building leaders who can speak to the public on behalf our industry's achievements. Each year 20 producers are selected, one per state. Participants will meet 5 times throughout the year to discuss different ways to educate and promote pork.

Todd Moratz

In 2009, WPI Field Staff Representative, Todd Marotz, was chosen to be Minnesota's representative in the Pork Leadership Institute (PLI) program. During the program, Todd had numerous opportunities to reach consumers and learn about other projects going on in the pork industry, including: serving pork loins at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington DC, preparing new pork restaurant entrees at the Culinary Institute of America - Greystone and visited a fresh meat market in San Francisco's China Town.

The Pork Leadership Institute was a great opportunity for Todd. He will use his experiences with PLI to communicate with our producers and others in the pork industry. WPI will continue to encourage its employees to seek out opportunities like the Pork Leadership Institute to further their career goals and maintain a positive presence in the industry.     Todd on Right
