Operation Main Street

Operation Main Street (OMS) is a Pork Checkoff funded program that began in 2004. OMS trains every-day pork producers to educate consumers about pork production. Today, there are more than 630 producers speaking nationwide.

The Program

Operation Main Street participants speak to civic organizations within a 50-mile radius of their home location about some of the key issues facing the livestock industry, including: animal welfare, antibiotic use, the environment and industry economics. Civic groups such as the Rotary, Lions Sertoma, 4-H & FFA are among some of the many groups who have hosted OMS speakers. A recent survey of 9,888 audience members found that 81% leave these presentations with a positive impression of the pork industry.

Our Speakers

Wakefield PR & Marketing Manager, Rebecca Lindemann, and Worker's Compensation Administrator, Kate Richter, are trained to speak on the OMS issues. Both Kate and Rebecca have a background rich in pork production and agriculture. Their presentations are regularly updated to provide the industry's latest information.
